Anam
Cara Center has been offering programs and gathering spiritual community since 2003 and, in true visionary spirit, it
is continually shapeshifting!
Originally
begun as a Spiritual Center on the North Fork of Long Island, NY, we are now moving out - bringing programs and
services into the larger community, and networking with other groups that are doing similar work.
As of
Fall 2009, we are making a more focused effort to gather Spiritual Community with the launching of the Anam Cara Spiritual
Visioning Network. (See our Homepage for this vision)
We are also offering
programs from a private residence in Mattituck. Though we don't have a public "center", we have hospitality and community
building at the core of our vision, and so we want you to feel welcome to contact us, even if you are not able to come for
a particular program. See our Contact page for more information.
We
are living in Transformative Times, and it is our belief that we are all being called by Spirit to give our gifts fully to
our communities and our world. We are here to support and challenge you to live your life in full alignment
with your Spiritual Calling.
It is time for us to Awaken our Vision, and dream new ways of transforming our world through compassionate
acts of service and soulful hospitality.
We are guided in this work by these 7 passions:
1.
Sharing the Healing Life Ways and Visionary Awareness of the world’s Indigenous Earth
Wisdom and Contemplative traditions;
2.
Helping people to meet life’s challenges from a place of spiritual strength & centeredness and to reclaim their
sense of wholeness and aliveness through creativity, community, connection to nature & Spirit, and through confronting
the sources of woundedness and injustice in our society and envisioning new possibilities;
3.
Gathering in beloved community to celebrate the sacredness of the Earth's Cycles and Seasons and the sacred wisdom
of the Soul as it unfolds each person in the full flowering of their beauty, potential and power;
4. Working together to protect and honor the Earth and her creatures and habitats and to foster
sustainable lifestyles and grass-roots social change and environmental awareness;
5.
Bringing children out into nature in ways that engage their Souls & foster a deeply rooted sense of Self and a committment
to healthy ways of living;
6.
Providing personalized Mentoring and Rites of Passage for children, adults and
families that honor the sacredness of life transitions, the blessings of intergenerational community and a commitment
to personal and planetary transformation.
7.
Fostering Interfaith and Cross-Cultural Understanding and Peace Building Skills that help us to remember our Unity and bring
transformation to our relationships and our world.
