Halloween, known as Samhein in the Celtic tradition, is a time when the veil between
the worlds is thin. Costumes and Masks worn at this time are a way of either concealing or revealing one’s true identity. In this workshop
we will focus on revealing our inner depth and power by creating masks that express some part of ourselves that needs to be
honored. There
is no need to know ahead of time what that is - it will reveal itself in the process.
There
are two ways we will offer to make masks:
1. work in pairs to mold a mask to the contours of our own faces, let them dry and then come back to decorate
them. (You don't need a partner - we'll work together)
2. Make a mask using a combination of cardboard, paper, paint and decorative items,
that can be taken home the same day.
The cost is $20. Basic materials and guidance will be provided. Feel free to bring any decorative or natural items you want to include in your mask and a pair of
scissors.
Let the wild rumpus start!
