Dear Soul Friends,
As Anam Cara celebrates its 7th Year, I thought it might be inspiring to reflect on what this community
has meant to me.
I began Anam Cara as a spiritual bookstore and workshop center in Southold on St. Brigid's Day in
2003. Brigid is the Celtic Goddess / Saint of Hospitality and the Hearth, and my goal was to create
a haven of hospitality for spiritual seekers on the North Fork.
What I discovered is that there is no better way to meet all of the most thoughtful and insightful
people in a region than to open a spiritual center! I have been deeply moved by the friendships that I have made, and
all the ways that people continue to stay in connection with me and with one another.
Although Anam Cara's form has changed, its spirit remains vibrant.
Each one of you brings the treasure of your Soul to me and to one another every time you cross the threshold of my home.
I am deeply grateful for your presence in my life.
As we move from the introspective cold of winter toward the light and warmth of spring, I invite you
to come out of hibernation, and poke your head above the surface like groundhog, and see the wealth of wholesome spiritual
nutrition and companionship that is available to you!
In the coming weeks I'll be sending out a survey, to see what particular nutrition your soul needs
at this time.
Instead of chosing dates ahead of time, I'll be asking you to tell me what areas of spiritual and
creative life you want to explore, and then we'll gather those who are interested by personal invitation on a date that works
for most people.
Please begin thinking about this - so when the survey comes you can fill it out quickly and get it
back to me and we can start making plans!!!
As always - there will be free community celebrations and gatherings to celebrate the Wheel of the Year - Equinoxes, Solstices and Cross Quarter Days - those time of transition in the seasons that invite us to bring our lives
into alignment with the cosmic order and learn from the master teacher - Nature itself.
I always welcome active participation in these gatherings - if you play a musical instrument or can
offer a skill or creative contribution - feel free to call me - I love to collaborate!
I am looking forward to a new season of unfolding our spiritual lives in community with one another!
