Dear Friends,
After the magic of the Season of Light, Winter is drawing us inward, to the warmth of the hearth and the comforts
of home. But for some, as the wind howls at our door, an isolation can set in—the North Fork can be a lonely place in winter.
And so, we invite you, to step outside your door, and gather in warm circles of companionship. Join with new friends and old as we listen to the wisdom of John O’Donohue, or come learn how to
“Tend the Inner Fire” and make friends with your Solitude. Or perhaps,
nurture your spirit with creative fire in our knitting circle, stretch your soul with yoga, or ignite your mind with a good
film. We hope that you will take good care of yourself during this season
and give yourself the gift of supportive community. We are here for you and for
one another. If you are finding yourself isolated and can’t get out, please
don’t hesitate to call me. Phone visits can lift the Spirit too!
As we approach
our 3rd Year Anniversary on February 2nd, I’d like to offer a special thanks to all those who have helped make the dream
of Anam Cara Center a reality. Thanks to Denise Plastiras, for her inspired sharing
of her incredible knowledge and skill, and her friendship; to Maureen Nelsen, for her gentle, loving presence; to Mary Casey
for her mother wisdom and faithful help with minding the shop; to Donna Penney
for her generosity of friendship and deep connection to Spirit; to Phyllis Markopoulos for her enthusiastic & supportive
presence at almost all of our programs; to Sylvia Marmo for her beautiful Spirit and friendship; to Hazel Kahan & Carol
Owens for gracing our space with exquisite art, flowers, and natural arrangements; to Karen Murray for gathering the mothers;
to my daughter, Shana Young for her love & creativity; and to all who have shared the gift of their presence, insight,
and openness during our programs or in their visits to Anam Cara.
With Blessings & Affection,
Jeanne Marie
