Anam Cara 7th Anniversary
Hearthside Open House
Monday, February 1, 2010
12 Noon - 3 pm
or 4:30 - 6:30 pm
Amazing to think it was 7 years ago that we began with just a dream to gather community, and
what a wonderful journey we have taken together!
Come join us on this festival of Brigid’s Day—Also known as Imbolc (“Time
of the Birth of the Lambs” and the beginning of the Spring season in Celtic lands.)
Better known to us as Ground Hog Day—this day marks the midway point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox.
Brigid is the beloved Irish Goddess / Saint of the Hearth, Hospitality, Childbirth, Healing
& the Arts, and her feast day is a celebration of the warm fire of Hospitality and Spiritual Kinship kindled in every
home.
We will begin our celebration with a ritual kindling of the hearth at 12:00 noon, followed by a hearthside lunch from
12:30-2:00, and then from 2:00-3:00 pm our annual walk in Mill Road Preserve (a 5 minute drive from my house) where we look for signs of Spring, and enjoy the
huge Beech trees (weather permitting).
If you have to work this day, we invite you to stop by between
4:30 and 6:30 pm for some soup, breads and salad, and conversation around the fire.
You are welcome to join us for any part of the celebration.
Please e-mail me by Monday, February 1st, at 10 am, so I will know how many people to plan food for, and so
that I can send you directions to my home. No charge for this Community Celebration.
I can’t wait to see you again and share this celebration with you.
The Day's Schedule:
12 noon Kindling the Hearth Ceremony
12:30 - 2:00 Fireside Luncheon
2:00 - 3:00 Hike in Mill Road Preserve
4:30 - 6:30 pm Soup,
Bread, Salad & Conversation around the fire
This celebration takes the place of our regular
Full Moon Gathering this Month. The Full Moon rises tonight at 8:32 pm. Be sure to enjoy it.
