Medicine Walk & Camping Retreat

This retreat can be offered whenever there are 2-3 people who request it.

A Medicine Walk is a daylong meditative hike for seeking spiritual guidance for one’s life. "Medicine" is a native term that means anything that helps us in our spiritual, physical and emotional well-being. When we enter Nature with an open, listening heart, Spirit speaks through the voices of the nature beings & landscapes that we encounter on the journey. They mirror our inner process.

This weekend begins with a council meeting to help clarify your intentions for the walk.  This will be followed by a purification and fire ceremony. We will camp outside and wake before dawn to begin the day with a Sunrise Medicine Wheel ceremony, followed by a hearty breakfast. Then a brief orientation to the Preserve & the principles of receiving guidance from nature and attuning to the presence of Spirit as you walk.

We will then carpool to a local nature preserve. The walk can be undertaken either while fasting (if you feel comfortable with that) or a picnic lunch and energy-rich snacks can be brought along. Silence and Solitude are essential to the nature of this hike, so we will each travel alone & meet again before the preserve closes.  Then we will return to our campsite, and close our day with a sunset ritual and a potluck meal.  We will go to sleep early to incubate our experience.

In the morning after breakfast we will hold council to share our experiences and any dreams that came during the night, and end with a closing ceremony at noon.

The cost for the weekend is $120 includes ferry fees, preserve donation & 2 breakfasts and the teaching and rituals at the campsite. There is no charge for the hike itself, as we are not allowed to charge for programs in nature preserves. For that part of the journey you are on your own.

Bring a pot-luck dish for Saturday supper and lunch if you do not wish to fast during walk. Also bring comfortable warm clothes & shoes, sleeping bag and tentif you need one let me know!

Those who are interested are welcome to have a follow-up 2 hour counseling session during the month after the Medicine Walk to help you fully integrate it's medicine into your life, at a reduced fee of $40.
